This summer has brought back-to-back heatwaves and, if you're planning a wedding, you're probably checking the forecast to see whether the sun will shine on your big day.
If the forecast is set to be a scorcher on your wedding day, steal these wedding favour ideas to stop your guests from melting in the heat. Take it from me...a red-haired wedding celebrant who has survived countless outdoor summer ceremonies!
1) Parasols
My parasol has quite literally saved my skin at countless sun-soaked wedding ceremonies and summer events. It keeps you cooler than wearing a hat, or if you want to wear a hat too...it offers double protection from the sun. Provide colourful parasols for your wedding guests. They'll also look fabulous in your wedding photos.
2) Sunglasses
Another practical idea for wedding favours...think heart-shaped, Elton John-inspired...the more extra, the better! Not only do sunglasses protect our peepers from the sun's glare, but your wedding guests will actually use them.
3) Hats
Again, useful and will enhance your photos...straw hats/ summer hats/ whatever type of hat matches your wedding theme is a good option. Guests are more likely to keep something like this, whereas many wedding favours end up in the bin. Plus it'll protect their head and shoulders from sunburn!
4) Hand fans
Saving the best until last...the thing that will really keep you cool during a sweltering summer ceremony...a colourful hand fan. You can get them personalised or buy colours to match your wedding colour scheme.
You could coordinate any of these ideas to match your wedding theme...and add personal touches, such as your wedding date.
